WhatsApp: What Will Happen After May 15 With Users Who Didn’t Accept Your Policies?

The messaging application WhatsApp announced at the beginning of this year that it will implement some changes in its ‘conditions and privacy policy with a view to integrating their data with Facebook, a novelty that users will have to accept in order to continue using the popular app.

Although the initial date defined that the deadline to accept the changes was until February 8 of this year, the announcement generated great controversy among netizens, who immediately expressed their rejection of the integration of data between WhatsApp and Facebook, which is why the company decided to postpone the deadline.

Now users will have until May 15 to accept the new privacy conditions in the application. However, among netizens, doubts have also arisen about what will happen if these conditions are not accepted before the deadline is met and what can be done after that deadline.

WhatsApp clarifies the doubts

“If you didn’t accept them by then (May 15), WhatsApp will not delete your account. However, you will not have access to all WhatsApp features until you accept them. For a short time, you will be able to receive calls and notifications, but you will not be able to read or send messages from the application ”, explained WhatsApp.

In that sense, people will be able to accept the updates even after May 15. “We want everyone to be aware of our ongoing commitment to defending end-to-end encryption and protecting the privacy and security of our users,” they added from the company.

The foregoing refers to the end-to-end encryption technology remaining unchanged, meaning that user conversations will continue to be protected and that not even the WhatsApp company itself will be able to access people’s chats.

The main novelty in the new conditions will only affect WhatsApp Business conversations, an optional part of the service, in which the company will be able to monitor the way in which commercial accounts interact with companies and businesses, in addition to the collection of that activity. it will also be shared with Facebook.

Another change will lie in the enabling of customer service so that users can ask questions and make purchases or obtain important information, such as purchase receipts.

Other changes to be implemented

There will also be changes in the discovery of companies through ads on Facebook or Instagram that include a button that you can click to send them a message on WhatsApp.

As with other ads on Facebook, if you choose to click on them, this information could be used to personalize the ads you see on Facebook. “We reiterate that neither WhatsApp nor Facebook can see the content of end-to-end encrypted messages,” they explained from the company.

Finally, the area of the shopping experience will also incorporate modifications, since some companies with stores on Facebook or Instagram may also have the store on their WhatsApp company profile.

This allows you to see the products of a company on Facebook and Instagram and make the purchase directly on WhatsApp. If the user chooses to interact with stores or businesses, they will be informed through WhatsApp how their data is shared with Facebook.

“We are using the ‘Status’ function to share our values and updates directly within WhatsApp, and we will do even more to communicate more clearly as we move forward,” they concluded from the company about the changes that will be implemented soon.
