Facebook has created a new autonomous Messenger video conferencing application for desktops with Windows and macOS operating systems. Video conferencing applications, such as Zoom, Webex, and Teams, are experiencing the latest explosive growth due to the pandemic and the need for mass teleworking, telecommunications, telemedicine, and online communication from home in general.
According to Facebook, in March there was a more than 100% increase in Messenger use for video calls and headphones. The new applications for Windows and macOS provide additional features for users’ desktops, which will be able to do unlimited group video conferencing on a large screen for free.
Those interested can download the new applications from the Microsoft Store and Mac App Store. Chats will be synchronized automatically with the desktop via the corresponding mobile app. The mobile application (Facebook app) Facebook Messenger was released in 2011 and had extra video calling capabilities in 2016.
